Now, NLEX Corporation is further enhancing its services with the installation of automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) and more RFID early detection features in North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) toll lanes.

With the upgrades, the number of ALPR and early detection features will be increased to 95 and 217, respectively. These additions are expected to fast-track toll transactions within the company’s operations. Also, the toll road systems will help maintain safety for motorists.

The ALPR system is useful in improving safety and enforcing traffic laws as it assists in identifying vehicles with Easytrip RFID stickers. NLEX Corporation partnered with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to share data from the ALPR system to implement the contactless apprehension policy.

“Technology keeps on evolving and it is imperative to stay up-to-date and relevant. We continue to innovate and invest in technological advancements as these help us provide paramount service to our motorists,” said NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista.

The installation of ALPR systems is expected to begin this month in toll lanes in Meycauayan, Balagtas, Bocaue, Sta. Rita, Tabang, Angeles, and San Fernando. Upon completion, these will join established ALPR systems in NLEX toll lanes in Mindanao, Paso de Blas, and Karuhutan, as well as toll lanes in SCTEX Tarlac.

As for the RFID early detection feature, it will be implemented in 29 more toll lanes starting January 2022. Both systems will ensure a more efficient operation and boost RFID detection capability.
