All-new 2022 Honda Civic debuts with turbo power, P1.29M starting price

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) officially launched the all-new Civic that’s available in three variants, and all are equipped with a turbocharged engine. Aside from the turbo power, all trims of the 2022 Civic are integrated with Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies.

Exterior

The Honda Civic is now on its 11th generation model, and one can instantly notice that it comes with a whole new exterior design. It now has a more mature and refined look as compared to the outgoing model. It’s not as aggressive as the 10th generation model since it now has a toned-down exterior, giving the all-new Honda Civic a more serious-looking demeanor.

The front end of the 2022 Civic is fitted with LED headlights with black accents, while the entry-level S variant comes with a set of halogens. The Civic also has L-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, and a wide lower grille. Speaking of which, the top-spec Civic gets an RS emblem to further differentiate itself from the pack. Of note, the S variant has no fog lights.

The same design approach can be seen at the side where the Civic now comes with a calmer presence. The character lines are not that sharp but instead have a more straightforward appeal, adding to the 2022 Civic’s mature, and toned-down finish. It also has a low beltline that makes the Civic look larger than before.   

Power-folding side mirrors are equipped on the V and RS trims. The side mirrors are now also placed on the front doors, which is said to offer better visibility. The all-new Honda Civic can either have a set of 18-, 17-, or 16-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant. The top-spec Civic RS has 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, which also feature a different design compared to the set fitted on the V and S trims.

In terms of dimensions, the all-new Civic is 45mm longer, 3mm wider, and 1mm shorter in height compared to the outgoing model. It also has a longer wheelbase by 35mm, and slightly higher ground clearance by 1mm.

The rear completes the Civic’s more mature as you can see no traces of the sharp and aggressive rear styling of the 10th-gen model. The Japanese automaker’s compact sedan comes with LED taillights, a large bumper, and a shark-fin antenna. The RS trim comes with a spoiler. 

Interior

The interior is one of the notable features of the 2022 Civic since it comes with Honda’s new design template or concept dubbed ‘simplicity and something’. The Civic’s revamped interior has a less is more design concept, which explains the clutter-free dashboard layout. From the looks of it, the Civic’s new interior is working as it is included among the cars that have the best cabin, according to a U.S. survey.

Clean, straightforward dashboard

The dashboard comes with a honeycomb pattern while the steering wheel gets a new design, which has a tilt & telescopic adjustment. The 2022 Honda Civic RS features black leather with suede seats, and the driver’s seat has an eight-way power adjustment. The RS trim also comes with red stitching throughout the cabin.

It has generous legroom for rear passengers

The rear seats offer generous leg- and head-room especially if there will only be two individuals occupying the passenger area. The all-new Civic also comes with rear aircon vents. The rear seat’s backrests can also be folded at 60:40 in case you need extra cargo space. 

Tech & Safety

The 2022 Honda Civic has a lot to offer when it comes to its tech & safety features. Placed right at the center of the RS trim’s dashboard is a 9-inch floating-type infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Of note, the Civic RS is integrated with a wireless Apple CarPlay, which is a neat addition to the car's wireless mobile charger. The V and S variants, on the other hand, come with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen that also has smartphone connectivity.   

The all-new Civic RS also has a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, giving a modern appeal to the whole interior. It also has a Bose 12-speaker sound system, which audiophiles can appreciate.

In terms of safety, all variants of the 2022 Civic come standard with adaptive cruise control, which is among the feature package included in Honda Sensing. Speaking of which, here are other safety and driver-assistive technologies of the all-new Civic: Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

All variants of the 2022 Honda Civic also come with the following: Reverse Camera with Guidelines, Driver & Front passenger airbag, as well as side airbags. It also has an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, child lock, Isofix, security alarm, immobilizer, and speed sensing door locks.

Engine

All variants of the 2022 Honda Civic come with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine

All trims of the 2022 Honda Civic are powered by a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo gasoline engine that puts out 176 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and power is sent to the front wheels.

HCPI is offering the all-new Honda Civic in three variants: 

- S Turbo CVT Honda Sensing: Php 1,290,000

- V Turbo CVT Honda Sensing: Php 1,498,000

- RS Turbo CVT Honda Sensing: Php 1,690,000

The all-new 2022 Civic is now available at all 37 Honda Cars dealerships nationwide and comes in five (5) colors:

- Morning Mist Blue Metallic (new color; available for V and S variants)

- Meteoroid Grey Metallic (new color; available for RS, V, and S variants)

- Ignite Red Metallic (exclusively for RS variant)

- Platinum White Pearl (available for RS and V variants)

- Lunar Silver Metallic (exclusively for S variant)

All-new 2022 Honda Civic makes PH debut

Honda Civic

The 2023 Honda Civic is a compact, five-door sedan. It is now in its eleventh-generation. For the Philippine market, the Civic has a price range of Php 1,583,000 to Php 1,775,000. It has three variants consisting of the V Turbo, and the RS Turbo as the top-spec trim. All of them are equipped with the Honda Sensing driver assist safety suite, and all use a 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 175 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. All trims use a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Size-wise, the 2023 Civic is 4,678mm long, 1,802mm wide, and 1,415mm in height. It wheelbase length measures 2,735mm long, and it has a ground clearance of 134mm.
