Honda revealed the 11th generation Civic that features a more mature, and cleaner styling last April. Now, the Japanese automaker released a teaser image of the 2022 Civic Hatchback along with the confirmation that it will be making its debut this month.
The Honda City Hatchback will be revealed on June 23
Honda said that the 2022 Civic Hatchback is designed to fit the lifestyle needs of young, and active car buyers. It features styling cues that are inspired by the 11th generation Civic Sedan that comes with a clean exterior design. The Civic Hatchback will be produced at Honda's Greensburg, Indiana manufacturing facility.
The teaser image released by Honda doesn’t reveal much but you can see that it has a distinctive character line that’s similar to the Civic Sedan. The headlights, front grille, and front bumper could most likely have the same design as what is seen in the Sedan version. Well, that’s expected since the most prominent design change here is towards the rear.
The edited teaser image shows the Civic's familiar straight character line
The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback has a sloping roofline. It doesn’t have a trunk for obvious reasons, and aside from that we expect it to have similar design details on the rear as compared to the Sedan version. Of note, the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback will be available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Speaking of which, further information about the Civic Hatchback’s powertrain is yet to be released by Honda. As a review, the Sedan version has two engine options: a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter and a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine puts out 158 hp and 187 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter turbocharged, on the other hand, generates 180 hp and 240 Nm.
The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback will make its world debut on June 23, at 6 p.m. PDT (June 24, at 9 a.m. in the Philippines) on the Honda Stage YouTube channel. Joining the Civic Hatchback’s world premiere is a performance by OVO Sound Recording artists and burgeoning pop duo, Majid Jordan, who will collaborate with Civic Tour headliner H.E.R.
