The marque finally dips its toes into the pickup truck market.

Ever since Geely entered the ASEAN market, the brand has sought to expand its model lineup so that it’ll have an entry for each major market segment. In connection to this, the marque has teased that it is currently developing a pickup truck. Pictures of its prototype have already surfaced, and interestingly, it gets similar-looking headlamps as the Geely Okavango.

The Geely Radar prototype

Dubbed the Geely Radar, this pickup truck will be electric-powered. And as the latest teaser pics show, it falls under the RADAR sub-brand, which was registered by Geely a few months ago, and is positioned as a manufacturer of electrified pickup trucks.

As of the moment though, Geely nor RADAR is yet to reveal as to which exact electrified engine the new truck is getting. Some are speculating though, that it might use a similar powertrain to the Geely Azkarra and Okavango. Specifically, a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline three-banger paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. At most, this powertrain can churn out 190 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It is then paired to a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch gearbox, sending power to all four wheels.

It lacks the Expanding Cosmos grille present on other Geely models

Going back to the Radar pickup truck’s styling, its front end and some elements of its side are similar to that of the Okavango. In particular, its LED headlamps are similar and they even come with the same hockey-stick-shaped daytime running lights.

Its front end, though, lacks the Geely signature expanding cosmos grille, which is also present on the Azkarra, Okavango, Coolray, etc. Instead, it gets a slim-looking grille which features a strip of LED lighting at its center.

The Geely Radar from the side

For its side, the Radar, like the Okavango, gets squarish wheel arches including the noticeable kink just above each arch. Even though the side profile is similar, the Radar truck obviously gets a bed that starts at the C-pillar. It also seems that it is a bit lengthier compared to the Okavango.

The Radar pickup truck's rear end

So, when is the Geely Radar coming out, and is it coming to the Philippine market? For now, we do not know. But if you want to catch the latest updates on this upcoming Geely pickup truck model, keep it here on Philkotse.
