Customers in the South now have more access to Geely’s model range.

Geely is one of the more high-profile Chinese brands currently making waves in the local automotive scene. The carmaker has gained considerable traction in the Philippine market through its all-crossover lineup so far, with designs, tech, and pricing that make it easy to look beyond their quirky model names.

Geely is giving its customers in the South a taste of what it has to offer

That formidable vehicle range is also fueling Geely’s aggressive expansion as it seeks to cover more ground in the Philippine market. The company recently opened its latest pop-up showroom at Alabang Town Center (ATC), where customers in one of the country’s leading commercial hubs get to see the full range of Geely models up close, as well as take these out for a test drive.

The Coolray continues to be Geely's best-seller locally

Sojitz G Auto Philippines Inc. (SGAP), Geely’s authorized Philippine distributor, says that the pop-up showroom is merely a prelude to establishing a more permanent presence in the area. “While Geely is expected to rise in Alabang this year, we would like to build our presence there as early as now,” according to SGAP President and CEO Yosuke Nishi. “We have been hearing requests for a dealership in that area, and we just don’t want our customers in Alabang and generally in the South to wait any further.”

The Azkarra introduced mild-hybrid tech to the Geely range, as well being the only model with all-wheel-drive

The booth comprises some 80 square meters, with Geely’s Coolray subcompact, Azkarra compact, and Okavango midsize crossovers on display. Customers can sample their features with a test drive, while a team of sales professionals is on standby to field inquiries and accept reservations. The pop-up showroom will be open to the public until September 30, 2021 and Geely wishes to open the actual dealership by then.

Geely’s newest showcase comes on the heels of its 11th dealership, which opened at Don Chino Roces Avenue in Makati. The carmaker says it has 13 dealerships in the pipeline for this year, and has even launched alternative channels such as virtual showrooms to complement these efforts.

The Okavango is Geely's biggest model on offer so far

“Our successful car launches which were met with positive reception from our customers are indicators that we have a competitive advantage in the car market,“ Nishi adds. “Our aim is to maintain it and keep building our momentum.”
