Geely is on a mission.

One of the car brands that emerged last year amid the pandemic is Geely spearheaded by its entry in the local subcompact crossover segment, the Coolray. And by the fourth quarter of 2020, the Chinese car brand also introduced the new 7-seater Okavango which already surpassed the Azkarra in sales last year.

With all the momentum Geely is bringing from last year, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the official distributor of Geely vehicles in the country, aims for higher sales and a stronger market presence, targeting around 9,500 units for this year. This objective is said to provide a three percent market share and will help Geely rank higher in the industry.

The dealer conference held by SGAP

SGAP started to do efforts to accomplish its target this year by conducting its first-ever Dealer Conference. The virtual Dealer Conference aims to strengthen SGAP’s ties with its industry partners including Geely Automobile International Corporation (GAIC), Sojitz Corporation Tokyo, and its dealers.

“2021 has presented its own challenges this year. Starting off with the imposition of additional safeguard tariff in most imported vehicles. This policy is seen to hurt majority of the automotive brands in the country, including us. But with our collaborative efforts, we will continue to deliver on our commitment to provide our customers better value for the ride they deserve,” said SGAP President and CEO Mikihisa Takayama.

SGAP is the Distributor of the Year in Marketing

GAIC Deputy General Manager Jenny Jin also recognized SGAP as the Distributor of the Year in Marketing during the Dealer Conference. Moreover, Jin mentioned that Geely has the highest export volume to the Philippines among all Chinese car brands last year.

“On behalf of the company (GAIC), I would like to express my high respect and sincere thanks to all of you, our partners who worked hard to make positive contribution to the company’s development,” said GAIC Deputy General Manager Jenny Jin.
