The Ford Everest has another trim level on the way. This time, it takes a page from its Ranger platform sibling by unleashing its very own Wildtrak variant that is now coming to the New Zealand market.
The third-generation Ford Everest will now offer a Wildtrak trim
Changes on the new midsize SUV brings are largely cosmetic in nature, designed to give it a more striking appearance. An H-bar mounted on the front bumper gives the fascia a distinctive appearance, accompanied by fender moldings, vents, and mirror caps rendered in Bolder Grey.
The same hue is used on the new 20-inch alloy wheels that sit at each corner of the Everest. Wildtrak logos are mounted on the hood, front doors, and tailgate so there will be no mistaking the latest Everest trim for anything else. The first-ever Wildtrak trim for the Everest will also sport the variant-exclusive Luxe Yellow body color for the first time.
Heading into the interior, occupants will find a cabin that lends a premium air, with upholstery done in ebony leather and Miko suede. Seats for the driver and front passenger feature 10-way and 8-way power adjustment respectively, with both thrones boasting the Wildtrak logos embroidered into the seat backs using Cyber Orange contrast stitching.
Drivers benefit from a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster. Meanwhile, connectivity is handled by a vertical 12-inch touchscreen running Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment powerhouse, patched to a 10-speaker sound system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with wireless charging. Power will come from a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that brings 247 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.
But the Everest Wildtrak isn’t the only new offering as far as Ford’s midsize off-roader is concerned, as the Blue Oval brand also announced that the Everest Sport trim will also be offered with the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel mill rated at 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, aside from the more potent 3.0-liter power unit. In the Philippines, the Everest Sport comes with a 2.0-liter single turbo diesel under the hood.
New Zealand will also get the Ford Everest Sport 2.0L bi-turbo (PH-spec model shown)
“The 2022 Everest set new standards for performance, comfort, and versatility in the seven-seat, mid-sized SUV segment,” said Ford Chief Program Engineer for Ranger and Everest David Grice. “Now, we’re giving customers all that, wrapped in an SUV that looks as comfortable pulling outside a hip hotel as it does on the trails.”
Ford will be making the Everest Wildtrak available in New Zealand showrooms by July 2023, with no confirmation yet on whether it will reach the Australian market. The Everest Sport 2.0L will come first by March 2023. Do you think it would be a good idea for Ford Philippines to expand its Everest lineup here with these two variants?
