Motor Image Pilipinas Inc., the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, is going to have a busy year next year. The car brand announced that it will be launching several new models including the facelifted Subaru Forester.
Facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester
First revealed in Japan last August, the facelifted Subaru Forester comes with a more aggressive yet more refined front end compared to the current model offered in the market today. The reason for this is that it shows the car brand’s new “Dynamic x Solid” design language.
You can instantly know that you’re staring at the new Forester due to several design tweaks into its fascia. It has restyled headlights that are still integrated with C-shaped daytime running lights. The grille also gets a design update as well as the front bumper, which has a beefier finish.
The side profile and the rear end of the Subaru Forester still have similar design cues from the outgoing model, which is expected since it is a facelifted model. But, the Forester that was launched in Japan comes with a new set of 18-inch wheels.
Same interior layout
The interior layout also looks the same as the outgoing model. However, it gets new seat variations to choose from in the Japanese market. The seats can be upholstered in waterproof polyurethane, genuine Nappa leather, and Ultrasuede.
The facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester is offered with two engine options in Japan. The first engine option is the 2.0-liter hybrid e-Boxer engine that delivers 145 hp and 188 Nm of torque. The other power unit option is the 1.8-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 177 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Of note, the turbocharged engine is currently for the Japanese market only. As such, don’t expect the upcoming PH-spec 2022 Forester to have turbo power.
The engine that the PH market could most likely get is the same 2.0-liter gasoline Boxer engine that produces 154 hp and 196 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a Lineartronic CVT, and feature’s Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive (SAWD) layout.
The upcoming PH-spec facelifted Subaru Forester will have EyeSight 4.0 tech
The most significant feature included in the upcoming local-spec facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester is the EyeSight 4.0 technology. Subaru PH confirmed that the upcoming Forester will come with the latest EyeSight tech that’s the same as the one fitted on the Outback. Subaru’s EyeSight 4.0 gets an upgrade with new features that are meant to make your drivers safer.
Subaru’s updated EyeSight tech further improves its Adaptive Cruise Control as it now comes with Lane Centering Function. This helps to steer the vehicle to keep it in the middle of the lane, whether the road is straight or slightly curved. EyeSight 4.0 also has Lane Departure Warning that includes Lane Departure Prevention.
2022 Subaru BRZ
The facelifted 2022 Subaru Forester is said to arrive in the Philippines in April 2022, just in time for the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Subaru plans to launch the Forester in MIAS together with the all-new BRZ.
