Subaru Japan reveals the facelifted Forester.

Considering that the fifth-generation Subaru Forester was introduced last 2018, it is about time that it gets a facelift. For the 2022 model, the compact crossover will come with a mid-cycle update that includes few changes in some areas of the vehicle such as its exterior, tech, and more.

The headlights have been redesigned in a shape that complements the similar C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) from the pre-facelift model. Subaru has also revamped the Forester’s front bumper, grille, and fog lamps, giving it a new distinctive fascia.

No significant changes can be seen on the Subaru Forester’s side profile and rear end. It still bears a similar taillight design and identical character lines. But at least Subaru added three new body colors that expand the range of options on the crossover, which includes Cascade Green Silica, Autumn Green Metallic, and Brilliant Bronze Metallic.

Going to the inside, the facelifted model still hosts drivers and passengers with the same interior layout. However, it gets new seat variations to choose from depending on the chosen trim. The seats can be upholstered in waterproof polyurethane, genuine Nappa leather, and Ultrasuede.

In the Japanese market, the new Subaru Forester will be sold with either a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain (e-BOXER) or a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine that was brought back last year. The hybrid powertrain can produce a total power output of 145 hp and 188 Nm torque, while the turbocharged engine churns out 177 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

A Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) and symmetrical all-wheel-drive (AWD) remain standard across all variants. The “New Generation EyeSight” is also a standard feature in the compact crossover that is developed to be safer so drivers can feel more secure while on the road.

Gets a more aggressive face

Subaru Japan is now accepting preorders for the 2022 Forester crossover. On the other hand, Motor Image Pilipinas seems like it is not currently eyeing the local debut of the new Forester as it is not included in the proposed vehicles it plans to introduce in the upcoming months.
