Subaru Philippines has now opened reservations for the second-generation 2022 BRZ on its official website. The all-new Subaru BRZ was launched in November last year alongside its twin model, the Toyota GR 86. And as announced last year, the latest iteration will be arriving in the Philippines before 2021 ends.
Second-gen Subaru BRZ
Subaru PH announced that the all-new BRZ will be officially launched in April 2022. But the car brand is already accepting reservations for the said vehicle.
Interested individuals must simply visit Subaru PH’s website and look for the Subaru BRZ page. At the bottom of the page, the site will ask for essential information such as name, mobile number, email, and preferred Subaru dealership. A Subaru sales consultant will contact those who completed the registration.
Subaru PH clarified that specifications of the model may vary across markets and be dependent on local requirements and availability. As such, we don’t have confirmations just yet as to what tech and features the upcoming PH-spec Subaru BRZ will offer to the local market.
New 2.4-liter boxer engine
But what we can be sure of is the engine the Japanese sports car will be using. Under the hood, the Subaru BRZ should be powered by a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated boxer four engine that is capable of generating 228 hp and 249 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing has also been revealed on the car brand’s website. As per Subaru PH, there will be two variants offered, namely the 2.4 MT and 2.4 AT EyeSight.
The MT variant comes with a price tag of Php 2,399,000, while the AT variant is priced at Php 2,499,000. These numbers are higher than the outgoing model’s price at Php 2,158,000. Of course, price bumps are already expected for facelifted or next-gen versions.
It sports design and performance upgrades
Now that the Subaru BRZ is getting closer to its official Philippine debut, many will turn their eyes to the possible arrival of the new Toyota GR 86. As of this writing, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has yet to put out a word regarding the matter.
