Ford Motor Company announced a new range-topping variant in the Ranger lineup, called Platinum.
Ford Ranger Platinum
In the words of the American automaker, the new Ford Ranger Platinum is the most luxurious Ranger yet. It is slotted in between the Ranger Wildtrak and the Ranger Raptor, at least in the European and Australian markets for now. While hoping for a Philippine debut, let’s see what the new ranger-topper brings to the table.
From the front to the back, the Ford Ranger Platinum gets intensive chrome treatment, most noticeably on the front fascia. The pickup truck is etched with the “Platinum” badge just right above the chrome grille. It is still equipped with matrix LED headlamps along with the signature C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs).
Luxury is the theme
Coming as standard is a Flexible Rack System (FRS) installed on the truck bed. The FRS improves the versatility of the Ranger by allowing lengthy items such as a surfboard to be carried on board. It has a static capacity of 250 kg, as well as an 80-kg dynamic load limit.
Another unique exterior addition to this variant is the new 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires. It complements the entirety of the chrome treatment better as compared to a blacked-out finish. For an enhanced look, the wheels come with ebony or black accents.
It comes with Platinum exclusives inside
The luxurious theme of the exterior has been carried over into the interior with its variant-exclusive cabin finish. If the contrast stitching in the Ranger Wildtrak is Cyber Orange and the Ranger Raptor is red, the Ranger Platinum rolls out with white. “Platinum” badges can also be found on the seats and dashboard.
Among the interior amenities include a 12-inch infotainment vertical touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 10 speakers, a wireless charger, and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster.
Flexible Rack System
Powering the truck is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine that delivers 247 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels (4x4) via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
See the Ford Ranger Platinum closer
As of this writing, Ford Philippines hasn’t put out a word regarding the new Platinum variant. But if ever the company plans to bring it in, we hope that the next-gen Ranger Raptor will join the PH-spec Ranger’s range as well.
