It can make up to 392 horsepower.

The all-new 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor has finally reached the ASEAN region. Specifically, it recently debuted at the 2022 Bangkok International Motor Show, and it is now available for sale in Thailand.

Of note, the all-new Ranger Raptor for Thailand has ditched the outgoing model’s 2.0-liter biturbo diesel engine in favor of a beefy twin-turbo gasoline V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. At the most, the Ranger Raptor’s new engine can make up to 392 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque. That’s a markedly significant increase over the old Ranger Raptor’s 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

Apart from that, the new Ford Ranger Raptor for Thailand also features an updated Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass dampers. These now have Teflon-infused oil, which ensures better ride comfort without sacrificing the truck's off-road capability.

Also new is a full-time four-wheel-drive system with an electronically controlled, two-speed transfer box. Also present are locking front and locking rear differentials. Of note, the old Raptor only had a rear locking differential.

Style-wise, it mirrors the next-gen 2022 Ranger Raptor that debuted in other markets a couple of weeks ago. It gets the brutish and squarish front fascia of the new Ranger, a pair of C-shaped headlamp clusters, as well as the huge “Ford” lettering across the grille.

Why are we talking about the Ranger Raptor for Thailand? Well, remember that Ford Philippines sources the said model from the Land of Smiles. As such, this is a sign that a local launch might be imminent.

Then again, we still aren’t sure if the upcoming Philippine-spec version will get the same engine as the Thai-spec version. Do note that Filipinos do prefer turbodiesels when it comes to pickup trucks.

The new Thai-spec Ranger Raptor also comes with a 12-inch infotainment screen

On that note, Ford did say in a previous report that the good old 2.0-liter bi-turbo mill will still be present for the next-gen Ranger Raptor for certain markets. That however, won’t be made available to the model in question until 2023.

Meanwhile, the all-new regular Ford Ranger in Thailand uses the 2.0-liter biturbo diesel paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and it still makes 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. There’s also 2.0-liter single turbo version paired with a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox, that can churn out 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque.
