It comes with what seems to be a Volvo-inspired grille.

The Geely Okavango has been a strong addition to Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) since last November 2020. A market for relatively affordable 7-seater family vehicles with loads of features was expanded by the Okavango, making it an instant hit among big Filipino families.

2022 Geely Okavango

For 2022, the Chinese marque is looking to refine the Geely Okavango with a few design updates both in the interior and exterior. With the design updates, the model won’t only offer various in-car technologies at an affordable price tag, but also style to keep it even more competitive in the years ahead.

Looking at the front end, the vehicle got rid of the cosmos grille that we see in most Geely models including the Coolray and Azkarra. Instead, the Chinese MPV/SUV features a more straightforward grille finished in chrome. It comes with vertical slats that give the front fascia a classier look. If anything, one can say that the new grille was taken from Volvo through their partnership.

A brighter cabin layout

Turning to the rear end, more design updates can be found. The chrome trim that runs between the taillights no longer hosts the ‘GEELY’ lettering. Moving forward, the brand’s name is now separated right below the full-width trim. Other updates at the back include the redesigned reflectors, more pronounced skid plate, and the addition of a twin exhaust-like setup in chrome.

Inside, the cabin sports a two-tone setup with burgundy on soft-touch materials including the seats. Another noticeable design update in the interior is the new gear shifter which is now oriented sideways. But the base is still similar to the outgoing model with piano black and chrome surround in a hexagon shape.

The rear end looks busier

Geely Philippines has no word just yet as to when it will bring the 2022 Okavango to the local lineup. But considering that the updated model is now seen in Geely dealerships in China, there’s a chance that the local market will get the updated Okavango.
