The cat’s out of the bag, with the arrival of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type to the Philippine market. Jaguar’s newest addition to its feline stable has plenty of reasons to get fans excited to take the wheel.

As with the outgoing model, the new F-Type comes in coupé and convertible body styles. Both sport dimensions of 4,470 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, and a wheelbase of 2,622 mm. At 1,307 mm tall, the convertible sits just 4 mm lower than the coupé. Probably the most striking visual feature of the new F-Type is the restyled fascia that sits just beyond the new clamshell hood.

Slimmer Pixel LED headlamps flanking the larger mesh grille no longer stretch toward the windshield but wrap around the front corners, featuring the signature ‘J’ blade LED daytime running lights, while the headlight cluster design itself features monogram detailing.
Air vents on the hood and sides enhance performance while evoking power that’s ready to take to the tarmac, even while the car is just standing still. The LED tail lamps have also been revised to look more angular with the Chicane signature graphic, sitting on top of the rear air diffuser with the Active Sport Exhaust’s quad tips peeking out. The Jaguar F-Type rides on a selection of 18- and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Despite its sporty attitude, the new F-Type also offers luxury inside, with the lightweight slimline seats, dashboard, and interior trim decked out in Windsor leather. The fighter jet-styled console packs most of the controls (including the engine start button), and helps the cabin give off the impression of a well-fitting glove.
Beyond the leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel lies a 12.3-inch customizable Interactive Driver Display. A 10-inch touchscreen powered by Jaguar’s InControl Touch Pro software offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Propulsion on the F-Type comes in three forms. A turbocharged 2.0L gasoline inline 4 makes 296 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Next is a supercharged 5.0L V8 that delivers 444 hp and 580 Nm of twist. The most powerful engine on offer is another supercharged 5.0L V8 that whips up 564 hp and 700 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox shifts through the gears to deliver power to the rear wheels, with available all-wheel-drive.

Three selectable drive modes adjust suspension dynamics and throttle response to meet a range of driving conditions. An Electronic Active Differential shifts torque for grip when tackling corners, working with Adaptive Dynamics for suspension damping. The F-Type’s aluminum body shell contributes to its agility, providing a balance between strength and lightness. Safety features include Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Keep Assist, while Park Assist and Blind Spot Assist are available separately.
The 2021 F-Type starts at Php 6,190,000. Catch it on display at the All British Cars showroom in Greenhills from September 18 to 24, and at the BGC Boutique showroom from September 25 to 30.
