1. 2020 Nissan Terra VL vs Ford Everest Titanium+: Midsize SUV top variant battle

The Ford Everest and the Nissan Terra are two of the most popular midsize SUVs currently available in the Philippines. The Ranger-based Ford SUV has been around since 2003, and its 2nd-gen version has since grown into a powerful and modern looking machine.

On the other hand, the macho-looking Navara-based Terra was introduced earlier in 2019. But despite entering the SUV game a little later, the Terra has managed to carve out a name for itself in the local SUV market.

At that top of the Nissan Terra’s variant lineup is the Nissan Terra VL 2.5 4x4 AT. For the Ford Everest, there’s the Ford Everest Titanium+ 2.0 Biturbo 4x4 AT.

Both of course are within striking range of each other as far as pricing goes. As such, a car buyer will naturally ask, Nissan Terra vs Ford Everest, which one has better specs? Let’s find out.

Let's find out which top-of-the-line midsize SUV has the better specs

Stepping inside, one can find that both top-of-the-line variants can comfortably fit in up to seven people. For the convenience of the driver, both are also equipped with cruise control, a push to start button, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, electronically adjustable seats, and steering wheel mounted audio controls.

All seats of both these SUVs are also clad in leather, and both also come with 12V accessory outlets.

The Terra's interior looks a bit like the Navara's. It is after all, based on the said pickup truck model

For on-board entertainment systems, however, these two top variants are a bit different. The Terra VL comes with a seven-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as USB and Aux ports.

It also has offline navigation. The said system is then linked up to a seven-piece speaker system.

This Ford Everest, on the other hand, comes with a larger eight-inch touchscreen. It also has more speakers numbering at ten. But, it has the same connectivity options as the Terra VL and it also has offline navigation.

The 2.0-liter Biturbo aboard the Everest Titanium+ sends power using a permanent 4x4 drivetrain. It also uses the same ten-speed automatic transmission found on the Ranger Raptor.

Meanwhile, the Terra VL uses a 2.5-liter turbo diesel. It can put out up to 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Power is sent to a part-time 4x4 drivetrain via a seven-speed automatic transmission.

7. 2020 Nissan Terra VL vs Ford Everest Titanium+: Conclusion

We’ll say it plain and simple. The Terra and the Everest are good vehicles. Both come with a robust body-on-frame chassis, and all the space you could ever want from a thing on four wheels.

The Ford Everest has already proven itself as it has been in the market since 2003. The Terra, on the other hand, is built mechanically identical to the Nissan Navara.

So which float your boat in terms of styling?

Do note however that the Everest Titanium+ comes with a premium. More specifically, it is Php 123,000 more expensive than the Terra VL. And obviously, that difference in price accounts for the oodles for the power it can make.

Apart from the engine, it also comes with a handy power tailgate, a parking assist, a slightly larger touchscreen, and a 10-speed transmission.
