Ford Philippines has finally launched the next-generation Ranger in the local market. The Blue Oval company describes the pickup truck as the smartest, most versatile, and most capable Ranger ever.

The next-gen Ranger might’ve made its global debut last year but it is still a relatively unfamiliar model to us. It is now in the phase of introducing what it can offer to Filipino consumers. With that being said, read on to find out the new features of this midsize pickup.
Exterior
The boxier body of the next-gen Ford Ranger immediately demands attention. It is equipped with matrix LED headlamps that look similar to the ones in its larger full-size pickup truck sibling, the Ford F-150. This is paired with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) and a new grille available with a unique paint accent on the Wildtrak variant.
Next-gen Ford Ranger
As a rugged pickup, the Ranger comes with puddle lamps, side steps, rear box steps, bedliner, roof rails, mud flaps, and front tow hooks. It also gets an easy-lift tailgate for easier access to the bed. Ford designed the next-gen version to become the ideal workhorse vehicle by improving its cargo loading versatility.
Interior
Going into the cabin, passengers are greeted by leather and synthetic leather seats with Wildtrak styling for the top-of-the-line model. Meanwhile, drivers benefit from an 8-way power adjustable seat which helps them find their most comfortable position piloting the tough pickup.
Interior of the next-gen model
According to the American automaker, the wheelbase is longer by 50 mm and the body is also 50 mm wider as compared to the outgoing model. This update is said to make a huge difference in hauling cargo and passengers more efficiently.
Tech & Safety
One of the most significant updates is found on the center console with the new 12-inch infotainment vertical touchscreen. As standard, it runs on SYNC 4A with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Apart from the base variant that gets four speakers, the rest of the range has six.
It comes in with a more aggressive styling
Safety-wise, the Ford Ranger offers seven airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with traction control system, parking sensors, and roll over mitigation. It is also available with advanced driver-assist technologies such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping system, and 360-degree camera, among others.
Engine & Performance
The 3.0-liter V6 engine offered in other markets didn’t make it to our shores. This means that the PH-spec Ford Ranger carried over the 2.0-liter single turbodiesel engine (with 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque) and the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine (with 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque) from the previous model.
Same engine options as the previous Ranger
Depending on the variant, the engine can be paired to a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 offers a Terrain Management System that helps the vehicle seamlessly drive through different road conditions with up to six modes.
