It had undergone millions of kilometers of testing in 10 different countries.

If there is one thing that we learned about the launching of the all-new 2022 Ford Ranger, that would be the Blue Oval company’s commitment to making the next-gen model the best version it could be. It is developed to deliver customers a better-performing vehicle including enhanced off-road capability.

With that being said, the next-gen Ranger is said to meet the different market demands with the features and performance it can offer to those in the market for a pickup truck.

“The Ford product development team’s goal with the next-gen Ranger was to deliver a vehicle that met the needs of customers in more than 180 different markets and be the truck the world trusts to tackle anything,” said Ford Ranger Vehicle Program Director Graham Pearson.

Developed in 10 different countries, the 2022 Ford Ranger was exposed to extreme loads, temperatures, and road conditions to strengthen its capabilities. It was tested in the cold areas of Europe and New Zealand, as well as in hot humid areas in Southeast Asia. Ford added that both the single and bi-turbo engines performed well regardless of the temperature.

Developed to deliver improved off-roading capabilities

Meanwhile, the transmission choices in the truck were put to more than six million kilometers of testing, including a 3,900-km run on off-road racing. Ford said that the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions will still be up for grabs, depending on the market.

Further improving the off-road capabilities of the next-gen model is the increase in track and wheelbase by 50mm. Not only does this help the truck drive through harsh road conditions with ease, but also provides improved comfort for passengers.

To protect the vital components during off-roading, the pickup truck comes with a raft of protective underbody shields for the steering, sump, transmission, and transfer case. A total of six selectable drive modes are made available for the vehicle. But again, the availability can still depend on the market.

Ford says this is the smartest, most versatile, and most capable Ranger ever

As of this writing, Ford Philippines hasn’t disclosed the full specs of the local spec 2022 Ranger. The new model is now on the company’s 'Coming Soon' page which hints that it won’t take long before the improved and more off-road capable truck will soon be tested on Philippine roads.

“The purpose of testing and stressing all of these components is to make sure they’re built to deliver safe and dependable service throughout the life of the vehicle,” said Ford Ranger Chief Program Engineer John Willems.

“We know our customers cover thousands of kilometers in their Rangers, often in extreme conditions, so we need to ensure the pickup is a safe, cossetting and quiet environment for them,” he added.
