A couple of days ago, camouflaged pictures of the Maserati MC20 Cielo test mule surfaced on the internet. Of note, this is the convertible version of the MC20 coupe which was released back in May 2020. More recently though, the Italian marque finally debuted this slick-looking open-top supercar.

So, without further ado, let’s check out what the all-new Maserati MC20 Cielo has to offer.
Exterior
Unsurprisingly, the MC20 Cielo mirrors the sleek style of the MC20 coupe. It sports the same front fascia which features the signature oval-shaped grille bearing the brand’s trident badge.
It even gets the same front lip shape, the same LED headlamps, the same rear end with the aggressive-looking lower bumper and LED taillights. Also, the butterfly doors that are found on the coupe variant have been retained.

Then again, there are slight changes made to accommodate the folding roof. For instance, the trident vents on the rear portion of the vehicle were replaced by a trident-shaped decal. The engine air intakes were relocated to the side fenders and they now assumed a boomerang shape.
Of course, the highlight of the MC20 Cielo is its folding roof, which adds a total of 64 kg to the curb weight of the vehicle. It is made from a carbon fiber frame, and is actuated by a roof mechanism made out of a single aluminum frame. It can fold down or deploy in just 12 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
There are also two main materials for the MC20 Cielo’s top. One is a particle roof which can be adjusted to provide up to an equivalent of 95 percent darkness tint. The other one is made out of electrochromic glass that can offer ray reflection. This can also be adjusted between fully transparent and fully opaque.

Lastly, the MC20 Cielo is also available in a limited-edition PrimaSerie trim which gets an exclusive Aquamarine paint job. Also debuting on this variant is a PrimaSerie-branded set of 20-inch matte black wheels.
Interior
Inside, the MC20 Cielo gets leather-wrapped seats just like the MC20 coupe, along with plenty of soft-touch surfaces. These come in an alternate ice-themed color for the PrimaSerie variant. The limited-edition trim’s dashboard also comes with aquamarine contrast stitching.
Present on all trims is the same sophisticated interior arrangement as the MC20 coupe. There are carbon fiber pieces on the steering wheel, paddle shifters, and transmission tunnel. It gets a pair of bucket seats as well.

The driver is also provided with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a digital rear-view mirror. The automatic air-conditioning system is then controlled via the central touchscreen.
Safety and Technology
Sitting on the Alcantara-wrapped dashboard of the MC20 Cielo is a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit. This infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has access to Alexa or Google Smart Assist. The said head unit is then linked to a premium 12-piece Sonus Faber audio system.

On the safety side of things, the MC20 Cielo gets a 360-degree view camera, onboard tire pressure monitoring, automatic emergency braking, a traffic sign recognition system, dual front airbags, and side airbags, among others.
Engine and Performance
Just like the MC20 coupe, the MC20 Cielo is powered by the same 3.0-liter, in-house developed Netunno twin-turbo V6 engine. At maximum, this engine can generate up to 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque. That’s exactly the same as the coupe version, with the power unit then paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Being 64kg heavier than the 1,500 kg MC20 coupe, the Cielo has made some slight sacrifices. For instance, it is 0.1 seconds slower when going to 100 km/h from a standstill, yet top speed is still at 321 km/h. It also has a stiffer rear suspension to address the additional weight, and it gets a revised differential ratio as well. However, rigidity was retained on account of the Cielo’s layered carbon fiber monocoque frame.
With regards to pricing, Maserati has yet to share exact figures as well as availability.
