The local subcompact sedan segment is one of the tightly contested segments in the Philippines. With a wide range of vehicles to choose from, car brands need to introduce a challenger that stands out from the competition by offering a vehicle that has an appealing design and bang for the buck features.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is no stranger in the local subcompact sedan battle royale. Its long-time challenger is backed up by solid experience and it has been competing pound-for-pound in the subcompact sedan arena since 2003.
2020 Toyota Vios
Now, TMP launched the facelifted 2020 Vios with a mission of keeping its title as the best-selling car in the Philippines.
The Toyota Vios Philippines dominated the local automotive industry last year with 33,181 total unit sales, which makes it the defending bestselling car in the country. As such, TMP wants to make the Vios the back-to-back champ with the launch of the new model.
The 2020 Toyota Vios looks more appealing than the outgoing model
The facelifted 2020 Vios looks sportier and more appealing than the outgoing model. The new grille design, as well as the revamped bumper and foglight housing, make the 2020 Vios look more composed than the outgoing model.
It also shares a bit of similarity to the current fascia of the Corolla Altis, especially when you see the new Vios at first glance. You also can’t help but notice the top-spec 2020 Vios’ sharp-looking LED headlights that are integrated with a three-tier design. It also comes with LED foglamps, which come in halogens on the outgoing model.
It still gets the same side and rear design
The side and the rear of the Toyota Vios 2020 still look similar to the outgoing model that was launched in the local market last 2018. The facelifted Vios sits at a set of 16-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is adorned with distinctive LED taillights with line guide.
The wheels and the taillights complement and further adds to the new Vios’ sporty appeal.
The 2020 Vios comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment
Stepping inside the cabin, the 2020 Vios features the same interior found on the outgoing model. The top-of-the-line Vios G variant is never short of features that intend to make your drive more comfortable, safer, and fun.
Sitting at the center of the dashboard is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Weblink for iOS and Android. Yes, we still have to wait for the integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility in the Vios’s infotainment system.

Steering wheel with audio mounted controls is an essential feature
The Toyota Vios also come with a three-spoke leather steering wheel with audio controls, which allows you to adjust the speaker volume without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
The steering wheel also has paddle shifters in case you want to have a more spirited drive. And oh, this Vios comes with a push start button, and a rear back camera, which is useful when backing up into a parking space.
The 2020 Vios comes with a full set of airbags for most variants
The new Vios also comes with essential safety features such as an ensemble of airbags (driver, front passenger, side, curtain, and knee) for the most of its trims, with the Base, J, and XE available with 7 airbags but with an additional premium.
Aside from the airbags, the 2020 Vios is equipped with driver-assist tech features such as hill-start assist, vehicle stability control, anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD), and speed sensing door locks.

Under the hood, the 2020 Vios is equipped with the same Dual VVT-i engine that’s fitted to the outgoing model. The Vios is still available with a choice of either a 1.5-liter or 1.3-liter gasoline engine.
The 1.5L mill generates 106 hp and 140 Nm of torque while the 1.3L version delivers 98 hp and 123 Nm. The facelifted Vios can be mated to either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) across all trims.
Look at that fascia. The 2020 Vios looks more appealing than ever
The 2020 Vios is offered in nine variants with a starting price of Php 671,000. The top-of-the-line Toyota Vios G variant, on the other hand, is priced at Php 1,056,000. It will be available at Toyota dealerships nationwide from July 27, 2020.
