The golden bowtie brand has a new weapon in its arsenal.

The local subcompact crossover category has become a segment to watch out for, with a range of models spanning different brands. Not to be outdone, Chevrolet Philippines joins the fray with its own entry: the Tracker, available in standard LS and top-spec Redline Edition.

Chevrolet Philippines is fielding its own contender in the subcompact crossover wars

Brought in by The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), Chevrolet’s exclusive distributor in the country, the Tracker is the newest offering in the brand’s global SUV lineup. “Bringing the new Chevrolet Tracker to the Philippines represents a new chapter in the successful and ever-evolving Chevrolet crossover and SUV story that we started writing in 1935 with the Chevrolet Suburban Carryall, the world’s first SUV,” says GM Strategic Markets Alliances and Distributors President and Managing Director Christian Soemmer.

“We are excited to introduce the all-new Chevrolet Tracker to the Philippine market,” enthused TCCCI President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Albert Arcilla. ”The Tracker continues Chevrolet’s tradition of producing highly-capable crossovers and highlights the brand’s unrelenting focus on growing market segments by offering stylishly designed vehicles loaded with customer-centric technology.”

Exterior

The Tracker’s dual-port grille showcases the iconic Chevrolet bowtie front and center, flanked by swept-back LED headlamps over angular LED DRLs. There’s generous body cladding on the wheel arches and door moldings, underscoring the vehicle’s youthful and dynamic nature.

Wraparound LED taillights adorn the rear hatch. On the Redline Edition, black and red accent details can be found on the heated side mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

The Tracker’s cabin can accommodate up to five occupants, with sports-style seats for both driver and passenger. A two-tone jet black and captain blue interior is standard on the LS, while the Redline Edition features an all-black environment with red double stitching on the upholstery. Available on the range-topping variant is a large sliding panoramic sunroof.

Drivers will be welcomed by the sporty-looking cockpit

To emphasize its role as a family vehicle, the Tracker features more than 20 storage spaces to keep your things organized. Even the rear bench folds 60/40, providing flexibility in carrying passengers and cargo.

Tech & safety

Further emphasizing the Tracker’s athletic character is a leather flat-bottom leather tiller that utilizes Bosch Electric Power Steering and is packed with audio controls. Onboard entertainment is taken care of by the floating-style 8-inch colored touchscreen featuring Chevrolet MyLink and Apple CarPlay. There’s a multitude of connectivity options spanning Bluetooth, four USB ports, and an SD card reader.

Multimedia streaming is a piece of cake for iPhone owners

The Tracker aims to make journeys safer for everyone with features such as four airbags, anti-lock disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, rollover mitigation, cornering brake control, and a wide-angle reverse camera.

Engine & drivetrain

Chevrolet’s subcompact crossover runs on a 1.0-liter Ecotec turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine that supplies 116 hp and 175 Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic gearbox spins the front wheels.

The power plant features an Active Thermal Management System that recaptures energy otherwise lost as heat, increasing fuel and electrical efficiency. An Intelligent Engine Start/Stop System adapts to various traffic conditions by shutting down at low speeds or at a standstill, reducing emissions.

Pricing

The 2021 Chevrolet Tracker carries a sticker price of Php 1.14 million for the base LS trim, while the Redline Edition can be had for Php 1.24 million. Both variants come with Chevrolet’s Complete Care Package, including a five-year warranty, three years of Chevrolet’s 24/7 Roadside Assistance, and immediate access to the 24/7 Chevy Hotline.
