Alfa Romeo is paying homage to the iconic 1967 Tipo 33 Stradale with the unveiling of the 33 Stradale.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is arriving with a bold, classic racecar design for the modern age, complemented by a future-proof electrified powertrain as an option. This is said to be the brand’s first fuoriserie (custom-built) car since 1969, and the Italian automaker promises it won’t be the last.

Exterior

Produced by the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, the 33 Stradale is inspired by the 1967 model evident with the bulging wheel fenders and low-slung stance. While the elliptical shape of the headlight housing is not as apparent in the new iteration, the design team added intricate lighting slats for a more modern-looking finish.

It features butterfly doors

Alfa Romeo describes the rear end as “brutal”, coming with round taillights, quad exhaust tips, and an aggressive rear diffuser. It also comes with the brand’s signature wheel design similar to the Tonale and 4C sports car.

Like the old model, the returning sports car features butterfly doors, providing a thrilling experience when getting into the interior.

Interior

Speaking of the interior, the cabin theme is also a nod to the legendary 33 Stradale. However, the layout is modernized with features such as a cockpit-style 3D telescope display, and an Aviation-inspired dashboard and center tunnel.

The interior is inspired by the spiritual predecessor

The design team used various materials for the interior including aluminum, carbon fiber, leather, and Alcantara. It also comes with wraparound seats, which are said to ensure “comfort and ergonomics.”

Tech & Safety

The sports car is equipped with a drive mode selector that has two modes of operation – Strada and Pista. The Strada mode ensures a comfortable driving experience with smooth power delivery and active exhaust valves that won’t open below 5,000 rpm, while the Pista mode increases throttle response and stiffens the suspension.

The cabin offers an innovative driving experience

In terms of safety, a brake-by-wire system and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes offer a “high-level performance stopping power.” Alfa Romeo claims the vehicle can go from 100 km/h to a stop in under 33 meters.

Engine

The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine capable of delivering more than 620 horsepower. This combustion engine setup uses an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), as well as a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout like the 1967 model.

The 33 Stradale is returning on a high note

An all-electric powertrain is also offered – which promises more than 750 horsepower and a WLTP-rated range of 450 km. Both versions are claimed to reach a top speed of 333 km/h and go from zero to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.

Alfa Romeo is limiting the production to 33 examples only via a dedicated program tasked to tailor to future owners. The goal of the program is to produce each unit with distinctive styling. As such, no two cars will be the same.
