Peugeot unveiled the mid-cycle refresh of the second-generation 2008, featuring a bolder design, improved onboard tech, and a more efficient electric powertrain.
2024 Peugeot 2008
The introduction of the facelifted model follows the preview of the Peugeot e-2008 at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). While Peugeot Philippines hasn’t put out a word regarding the next step for its subcompact crossover, let’s see what we can expect from the new iteration.
Exterior
Exterior-wise, the front end receives the most significant styling updates. The front bumper gets a more protruding finish, harmonizing with the reworked grille embedded with the new logo. It also now comes with the three vertical light claws for the daytime running lights (DRLs), which is a signature of the brand.
The new taillight design
The crossover is fitted with a set of newly-designed alloy wheels similar to the ones in the Peugeot 408 that debuted last June 2022. The rear then gets a familiar look, but the French automaker lightly revamped the light signature, which is now made up of three superimposed horizontal double slats.
Interior
Like the outgoing model, the new 2008 features the brand’s i-Cockpit, which is a driver-centric design approach. One of the essential elements of the Peugeot i-Cockpit is the compact steering wheel, housing the controls for the multimedia system and the new logo.
It still retains the Peugeot i-Cockpit
The cabin has renewed seat fabrics, which are said to illustrate a “real move upmarket.” Further enhancing the cabin experience is the ambient lighting function. It can be customized to eight different colors including new ones.
Tech & Safety
The other essential elements of the brand’s i-Cockpit are the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Both of which are updated for the 2024 model. While the digital instrument cluster gets a new design, and the central head unit has been enlarged to 10 inches (from seven inches).
New 10-inch touchscreen
Included in the safety package are Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, a 360-degree view camera, Active Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Alert, and Blind Spot Monitoring. It is also equipped with extended recognition and display of traffic signs, which is shown in the head unit.
Engine & Performance
The 2024 Peugeot 2008 is available with a wide array of engine options including an all-electric powertrain. In the internal combustion engine (ICE) range, the crossover can be powered by a 99-hp 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline, a 128-hp 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline, or a 128-hp 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. A 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic are made available.
The e-2008 offers more power and range
Meanwhile, the electric vehicle (EV) powertrain in the new e-2008 has been developed to make more power from 136 horsepower to 156 horsepower. The range has also been improved to reach 406 km (from 345 km). It is paired with a larger 54 kWh battery.
In addition, Peugeot said that it will offer a new 48V hybrid powertrain consisting of a new-gen 134-hp and a new 6-speed dual-clutch electrified gearbox. This version is expected to come out in early 2024.
