The Peugeot e-2008 electric vehicle (EV) was previewed at the ongoing 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Its presence at Peugeot Philippine’s display at MIAS provides a glimpse of the brand’s future electrification initiative for both the global and the local markets.
The Peugeot e-2008 EV
This EV model from the French car brand is based on the existing Peugeot 2008. If we referenced the e-2008 that's currently available in Singapore, it uses an electric motor paired with a 50-kWh battery. At the most, this EV system can provide up to 130 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. According to Peugeot, the e-2008 also features an estimated range of 345 kilometers.
Note that the e-2008 also provides 30 Nm more torque compared to the regular internal combustion-powered 2008. This is then coupled with the fact that the EV version has zero CO2 emissions.
The e-2008 from the side
This Peugeot EV is charged quickly thanks to a 100 kW DC fast charger. In fact, it can fill up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes if the fast charger is used. Other than that, this EV model is likewise compatible with regular home power outlets.
According to Peugeot Philippines brand head Maricar Parco, the Peugeot e-2008 is highlighted at the Peugeot MIAS display as it gives the brand’s local customers a preview of what’s to come. Likewise, the e-2008 is also “a symbol of our goal to give as many people a possible access to electrified mobility.”
It largely shares the same design elements as the standard Peugeot 2008
Stellantis Chief Operating Officer for ASEAN & General Distributors Daniel Gonzalez further added that the Peugeot e-2008 is in keeping with the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. Under this, Pegueot’s mother company aims to fight climate change and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2038.
Gonzalez also added that the company will introduce more than 75 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2030. He also said that we could expect a substantial electric-powered product lineup from the Lion car brand soon.

With all that said, the Peugeot e-2008 might see a local launch in the near future. For now, the brand has yet to set a final date for this, so stay tuned here on Philkotse for more updates.
