Mazda is all set to take on its rivals in the pickup truck segment as it launched the 2021 BT-50. Mazda’s BT-50 now looks sharper, sleeker, and more composed as compared to its previous generation.
From the looks of it, the BT-50 has what it takes to go up against its competitors, and we can’t wait for this pickup truck to arrive in the Philippines.
2021 Mazda BT-50: The more stylish Isuzu D-Max – First Look
As expected, the 2021 BT-50 comes with a different design from its platform sibling, the Isuzu D-Max. However, the BT-50 is powered by the same 3.0-liter diesel fitted to the D-Max.
The said engine delivers 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. As a review, Mazda and Isuzu decided to team up in 2016 to develop a new pickup truck that will replace the outgoing BT-50.
Make way for the 2021 Mazda BT-50
The sharp-styling of the Mazda BT-50 2021 is brought upon by Mazda’s Kodo design language. The front end of the pickup truck resembles Mazda’s CX series vehicle lineup, which is composed of models like the CX-5 and CX-9.
The BT-50’s fascia is fitted with swept back automatic headlights along with a large chrome grille, and a sharp-looking bumper. If you ask us, we give a thumbs up for the BT-50’s new front design.
Look at that wheels
The side remains to be a typical design of a pickup truck, which is expected. However, you can’t help but notice the 2021 BT-50’s new set of wheels that gives the pickup truck added style points. Mazda Australia says the new BT-50 will be available with 16-, 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The 2021 Mazda BT-50 looks more composed
The BT-50 will be offered in seven paint colours: Gunblue Mica, Concrete Grey Mica, Red Volcano Mica, True Black Mica, Ingot Silver Metallic, Rock Grey Mica and Ice White.
The rear, on the other hand, is rather similar to the design of the Isuzu D-Max, which is not a problem since Isuzu’s pickup truck comes with a bold rear design.
The interior of the 2021 BT-50 comes with car-like features
Inside, you’ll be greeted with a premium interior feel, which is one of the key points that Mazda’s known for. The interior cabin comes with car-like features that can make you forget that you’re onboard a pickup truck.
The BT-50’s 9.0-inch infotainment system is integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Mazda’s pickup truck also comes with a digital instrument cluster, an eight-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/start, and front and rear parking sensors.
In terms of safety, the 2021 BT-50 is integrated with a wide range of features, which includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and blind-spot monitoring system.

The 2021 Mazda BT-50 is ready to take on rough terrain
As said earlier, the Mazda BT-50 is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine that puts out 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, and it will be offered in 4x2 or 4x4 options.
The 4x4 version will come with modes such as 2H, 4H, and 4L, as well as a locking rear differential. Of note, the 2021 BT-50 comes with the same 3,500 kg towing capacity along with more than 1,000 kg payload capacity, numbers that are similar with its former platform sibling, the Ford Ranger.
