Mitsubishi Motors debuted the facelifted Montero Sport SUV at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).
2024 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Elite Edition
Known as the “Pajero Sport” in the Land of Smiles, this might be the last hurrah of the third-generation model before it gets replaced by a totally new model based on the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck.
Regarding powertrains, the facelifted 2024 Montero Sport for Thailand gets a 2.4-liter 4N16 diesel engine. Yes, this is a new engine but it gets a single turbo in contrast to the twin-turbo mill on the top-spec Triton Athlete.
The updated Montero Sport from the side
At the most, Mitsubishi says that the new Thai-spec Montero Sport can generate up to 181 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. This is paired with the new six-speed automatic that’s currently in use on the locally available next-gen Triton.
For optimum off-road performance, this model retains Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD II system which allows for switching from 4x2 to 4x4 mode on the fly. Traction on this SUV is also made honed thanks to several terrain drive modes for gravel, mud, sand, and rock.
In the guise of the new Elite Edition trims, the refreshed Triton that was shown off at BIMS gets a sportier look thanks to an abundance of black-colored exterior parts. The entire grille is colored black, as is the SUV’s front skid plate, power-folding side mirrors, door handles, and 18-inch wheels. Even its roof is finished in glossy black.
