The expansion of electrification in the global car industry is proceeding at a rapid pace. Locally, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is one of the brands that advance the benefits of eco-friendly vehicles with its hybrid models such as the Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Camry, RAV4 HEV, and Prius.

To prepare Filipinos for the industry’s shift to electrification, TMP shared four maintenance tips for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). This is also a timely reminder now that we are in the rainy season, which poses safety hazards on the road.
The first tip HEV maintenance tip is to check your tires and brakes for any leaks. Tires serve as your car’s only contact points on the road so it is important to keep them in tip-top shape. Meanwhile, brakes must be inspected, especially considering that HEVs utilize regenerative braking for improved efficiency.
For the second tip, the Japanese marque is encouraging HEV owners to check their vehicle’s battery health. Electric battery packs generate large amounts of heat for their regenerative braking system. As such, inspect this component so it doesn’t get damaged from high operating temperatures.

The third on the list is to follow its prescribed preventive maintenance service (PMS). As HEVs are built with more components than their non-hybrid counterparts, having them maintained by expert Toyota technicians is recommended. TMP noted that PMS is best done every three months or every 5,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
Lastly, TMP is advising owners to avail of car insurance as car part issues and road incidents can unexpectedly occur. The company knows that car insurance can be expensive so it is suggesting that buyers take advantage of auto loan promos that offer free insurance, including Toyota’s ‘Say Hi to Hybrid Auto Loan’ offer.

Up until the end of August 30, 2022, the company, in partnership with Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) is offering the said promo, providing lower rates for the Corolla Altis 1.8 V Hybrid CVT and Corolla Cross 1.8V Hybrid.
“This latest partnership with PSBank is exciting for us because having comprehensive car insurance alongside lower rates is important for our customers. Cars are huge investments for our clients and it is important that they have peace of mind when it comes to being prepared for unforeseen circumstances,” said TMP Assistant Vice President and Marketing Services head Elvin Luciano.
