NLEX Corp. starts annual pavement repair program

Safety has always been the top priority of NLEX Corporation for its tollways. This way, travelers can get a high level of customer experience. The latest project of the toll road company for the year is its annual pavement repair program which is set to commence this month.

NLEX Corporation's annual pavement repair program is starting soon

Covering 79,063-sqm. of the NLEX and 18,718-sqm. of the SCTEX, new layers of asphalt will be laid on certain stretches of pavement from Balintawak to Sta. Ines, as well as from Tarlac to Tipo. Meanwhile, the less damaged parts will undergo patching.

The annual pavement repair program is expected to be completed within the second quarter of the year. Traffic and lane management will be undertaken to ensure minimal closures and reduce travel delays. In addition, road signs and other warning devices will be installed within the repair site to guide motorists.

All the safety programs are being undertaken despite the challenges of the pandemic. Some of the toll road company’s recent accomplishments include the repair on Meycauayan and Bigaa Bridges in Bulacan, installation of a more upgraded RFID early detection system, and the successful deployment of the “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” (SMSK) campaign during holidays.

NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista assured that the maintenance work will result in a better road experience.

“Safety and convenience must go hand in hand in order to maintain a high level of customer experience. While we have frequent road inspections and repairs, this yearly program is more comprehensive and will vastly improve the quality of our roads for the benefit of thousands plying our expressways every day,” said Bautista.

Other ongoing safety projects of NLEX Corporation include the repairs on the San Matias and Pasig-Potrero bridges in Pampanga, and the upgrades on the NLEX Candaba Viaduct Northbound. The toll road company is also busy constructing more roads mainly to ease traffic through its Expansion Plan for 2022.
