It will be a busy year for the toll company.

NLEX Corporation announced its expansion plans for 2022 that would help decongest traffic and boost customer service. Three of the many projects the toll road company aims to complete this year are the NLEX C5 Link Mindanao Avenue-Quirino Highway Section, the Candaba Third Viaduct, and NLEX Connector.

With an expressway length of two kilometers, the construction of the NLEX C5 Link Mindanao Avenue-Quirino Highway Section is slated to commence this year. It will be part of the larger 11.5-km NLEX C5 Link which aims to reduce the travel time between Mindanao Avenue and Commonwealth to just 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, the construction of the third bridge at the Candaba Viaduct will expand the existing capacity from three lanes to four lanes per direction. Lastly, the 8.0-km NLEX Connector from España Blvd. to Sta. Mesa is expected to be constructed this year. It will provide an alternate route for busy roads such as EDSA and C5.

NLEX Corporation also took the time to look back at the 12 significant projects the company accomplished in 2021. Some of which include the expansion of the Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX), link slab upgrades at the Candaba Viaduct Southbound, and the rehabilitation of Meycauayan and Bigaa bridges in Bulacan.

These upgrades were made to ensure the safety of the motorists especially considering that the rehabilitated Meycauayan and Bigaa bridges in Bulacan were built in the 1960s. Also, efforts to improve on-road conveniences such as the installation of more RFID early detection system antennas and sensors were completed last year.

“Continuous improvement will always be our priority. As the company ends 2021 with a positive note, we welcome 2022 with optimism as there are big-ticket projects that we will complete and commence this year,” said NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista.
