Following the introduction of the Nissan Z Nismo, the Japanese car brand’s performance division is adding yet another member to the family with the Skyline Nismo.
Nissan Skyline Nismo
Scheduled for an early September launch, Nissan is rolling out two editions for the Japanese market – the Skyline Nismo and Skyline Nismo Limited. The former is limited to 1,000 units, while the latter will only see 100 examples.
The new limited edition comes with the Nismo exterior package to not only distinguish it from the standard model but also exude a sportier finish. It includes front and rear bumpers with red accents, side sills with red accents, fog lamps, and the Nismo logo.
A Nismo-exclusive set of Enkei 19-inch aluminum wheels is fitted into the car. Nissan claims this set of wider wheels is lighter and more rigid, perfect for adding a sporty touch to the driving characteristic. As a result, the car provides improved steering response and better ground contact that enhance cornering performance.
The Skyline gets the Nismo treatment
Nissan is offering five body colors including the exclusive Nismo Stealth Gray.
Based on the current top-spec 400R, the interior comes with Nismo-exclusive bits including a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red center mark, a speedometer and tachometer sporting a Nismo logo, and Nismo-tuned black Recaro seats accented by a red centerpiece.
Under the hood, the 3.0-liter VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 has been uprated similar to the Nissan Z Nismo. The power is raised from 399 horsepower to 414 hp, and from 475 Nm to 550 Nm of torque. It sends power exclusively to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Interior of the Skyline Nismo
The Nissan Skyline Nismo Limited is a special specification model that pays homage to the 60th anniversary of the S54A-1 model Skyline GT. It gets exclusive matte gunmetal painted wheels, a Takumi label, an exclusive serial plate displaying its production number, and a unique emblem. Available colors include White Pearl, Nismo Stealth Gray, and Dark Metal Gray.
Nissan is offering the Skyline Nismo with a starting price of 7,880,400 yen (around Php 3.012 million). The price can go up to 9,479,800 yen (Php 3.731 million) for the Skyline Nismo Limited.
The sporty sedan makes 414 horsepower
Locally, the Nissan Skyline is not part of the sedan lineup. We only get the Almera instead, a subcompact sedan that received a facelift treatment last month. Although, the 370Z and GT-R can be your tickets to getting your hands behind a Nismo.
