Nissan Philippines, Inc. has renewed its partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) via a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Together, the automotive company and the government agency will be implementing the Drive Pinas program.
DOT and Nissan PH launches Drive Pinas Program
Drive Pinas is a unified vision between Nissan and DOT and it is poised to highlight scenic spots in the country to local tourists. Nissan steps in with its innovative lineup of vehicles via drivable journeys. But in going beyond just promoting local destinations, the program also aims to make traveling sustainable and inclusive for both tourists and locals.
To formalize the launch of the program, Nissan and DOT signed the MOA through an event held in Okada Manila on July 10, 2023. Present during the event was Nissan PH President Juan Manuel Hoyos, while DOT was represented by Undersecretary Myra Paz-Abubakar.
During his opening remarks, Hoyos said that the car brand fully supports the DOT’s vision of making locals and tourists “love the Philippines even more.” Via the company’s innovative vehicles and technologies, these journeys will be made more exciting whilst also making a beneficial contribution to both society and the environment.

For her part, Paz-Abubakar mentioned that Drive Pinas will help in highlighting the country’s yet-to-be-discovered destinations to travelers. She added that the program will help garner more attention to these hidden gems for tourists to discover their “magic, immerse themselves in local culture and forge unforgettable memories.”
According to Nissan PH, the program in question is the result of its long-standing relationship with DOT. Back in 2015, the “Visit the Philippines, Drive To Discover” campaign was produced as a collab between the two to espouse the joy of driving to the country’s spectacular tourist spots. During the pandemic, the two entities also rolled out the Safe Trips program which highlights the various advantages of going to travel destinations in one’s own car.
