Nissan Philippines has officially launched the facelifted Almera. The updated sedan arrives with a more assertive design compared to the current-gen model that debuted just last two years ago.
Nissan Almera facelift
But the refreshed Almera isn't just bringing a new look but it was also made smarter thanks to the addition of NissanConnect Services. Made available in three variants, let's check out what the new 2024 Nissan Almera brings to the local market.
Exterior
The highlight of the facelift is the new front fascia. Nissan describes its centerpiece as the next-generation V-Motion grille, which sports more intricate details than the one in the outgoing model. It expands below the headlamps, giving the car a wider front fascia look.
The sedan just got sleeker
Both the mid-spec Almera VE and top-spec VL come with LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED front fog lamps, and auto-folding side mirrors with power adjust function. But only the latter gets 16-inch alloy wheels, with the rest of the range using 15-inch wheels (steel for base EL and alloy for VE).
Interior
While the interior looks unchanged, Nissan Philippines integrated dark blue trims in the VL in lieu of the white trims in the outgoing model. The VL also has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, black leather seats, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats. Only the VL and VE are kitted out with a seven-inch digital gauge cluster.
The cabin is updated with dark blue trimmings
Meanwhile, the standard interior features include a black cabin theme, manually-adjusted seats for the driver and passenger, an engine push start-stop system, single-zone climate control, and ISOFIX and tether anchor.
Tech & Safety
The eight-inch infotainment system is carried over to the facelifted model's VE and VL variants, which support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EL then gets four speakers, while the VE and VL trims are kitted out with a six piece speaker set.
Another returning feature is the brand's Intelligent Mobility, providing advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions such as blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and around view monitor.
The NissanConnect Services made its way into the Almera
As mentioned earlier, the PH-spec Almera is now available with the brand's NissanConnect Services. It is a smartphone app that lets owners connect to the car, enabling functions like automatic collision notification, my car finder, remote engine start/stop, remote lock/unlock, maintenance alert and reminder, and remote horn and light, among others. Of note, this connected service is exclusive to the top-spec variant only.
Engine
No changes were made under the hood as the refreshed sedan is still powered by the same 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline three-cylinder engine used by the outgoing model. At maximum, this three-banger makes 99 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. It is connected to either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The refreshed version comes out sleeker and smarter
Keeping the drives safer are standard safety bits including four SRS airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, and vehicle dynamic control. For a more convenient driving experience on the highway, the Almera VE and VL come with cruise control.
