Right off the heels of the newly-launched 2020 Ford Everest Sport in the country, a report has emerged shedding some light on the next-generation revamp for the midsize SUV as well as its pickup truck sibling.
The Ford Ranger and Everest are both aging at this point, with the T6 platform nearing a decade-long usage. The current-generation Ranger has been out since 2011 and got a major update in 2015. It has been a long run, and Ford is reported to be working on the all-new model.
While it seems like most of us are in the dark when it comes to the upcoming Ranger and Everest updates, Australia’s CarExpert was able to obtain initial details. For the uninitiated, both the Ranger and Everest are developed in Australia, including the almighty Ford Ranger Raptor.
The T6 Ranger, while capable, is deserving of a next-gen update
According to the report, the next Ford Everest and Ranger will both get a new 2.3-liter turbocharged gasoline mill that works in conjunction with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid fashion.
Combined output is expected at 362 hp and 680 Newton-meters of torque – massive figures in today’s standards considering that the biturbo 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel only makes 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The 2.0L EcoBlue diesel engine will remain in the lineup, as is the 10-speed automatic transmission.
The biggest news, however, is the adoption of the 3.0L V6 twin-turbo diesel engine for the range-topping Ranger and Everest. This power plant has been used by the F-150 as one of its engine options and is rated at 250 hp and 600 Nm of twists.
It will also be reportedly used for the next Ford Ranger Raptor, which, by the way, should also get the latest generation Fox Racing shock absorbers.

For now, we can only wonder how a V6 Ranger Raptor will be like to drive
When it comes to tech, Ford is expected to introduce a 12.8-inch vertical display on the next-generation Ranger and Everest, which should showcase Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system.
With all these details laid out, we expect the next-generation Ford Ranger and Everest to keep their positions as the most powerful in their respective classes – that’s if the reports hold to be true.
But then again, take these pieces of information with a healthy dash of salt, at least until an official announcement from Ford comes in. Moreover, it’s not guaranteed that the Philippines will get all the engine options, especially the plug-in hybrid system.
The all-new Ford Ranger and Everest are slated to be unveiled globally towards the end of 2022 as a 2023 model year. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information as they come in.
