The Chinese-Swedish luxury vehicle brand Lynk & Co is officially entering the Philippines under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI).

To herald its arrival to the local market, the company recently held an exclusive preview of its upcoming models - the Link & Co 01 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) crossover and the 06 SUV. The said event was held in the picturesque halls of The Ayala Museum and present were UAAGI executives and members of the local motoring media.
As of the moment, Lynk & Co has yet to reveal the specs or prices of the aforementioned models, but this is the first time that we get to see them in the metal.
Starting with the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV, it is a five-door crossover SUV classed within the compact segment. It uses the Compact Euro Vehicle Technology (CMA) platform which it shares with the Volvo XC40.

In its home market, the 01 PHEV uses a drivetrain that’s made up of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. Its internal combustion (ICE) component alone can produce up to 177 horsepower, while its 60-kilowatt motor outputs 80 hp. The company claims that it offers an electric-only range of up to 70 kilometers.
Once the 01 PHEV enters the local market, it will face the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, Peugeot 3008, and other locally available compact crossovers.
The Lynk & Co 06 meanwhile, is a five-door subcompact crossover SUV that uses the B-Segment Modular Architecture (BMA) Platform. global versions of this vehicle use a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 engine that can generate 178 hp.
Locally, it is set to compete against the likes of the GAC GS3 Emzoom, Geely Coolray, and Changan CS35 Plus, among others.

Of note, the Lynk & Co brand is a joint venture between the Volvo Car Group and the Geely Auto Group. To that end, these cars represent the collective strengths of these two global automotive giants. As claimed by the company, these models use advanced architectural platforms that are designed to the latest in electric vehicle technologies.
“We introduce Lynk & Co Philippines to the local market with much excitement and positivity, knowing that this brand affords Filipinos the opportunity to drive home a premium, global vehicle that ticks all the right boxes in terms of design aesthetic, safety, and modern connectivity,” said UAAGI Group Managing Director and Lynk & Co PH Brand Head Froiland Dytianquin.
UAAGI Chairman Rommel L. Sytin likewise added that the new brand elevates the company’s portfolio, and allows it to cater to more Filipino motorists.

For those excited to see the arrival of Lynk & Co and the official launch of the 01 and 06 models, be aware that this will happen at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The said event is scheduled to commence from April 4, 2024, to April 7, 2024, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. At the 2024 MIAS, those interested are welcome to take these Lynk & Co models for a test drive.
