The agency now has driving simulators that the public can use.

To carry out its mandate of ensuring road safety, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) continuously needs modern equipment and facilities. Both have been addressed on the occasion of the agency’s 110th founding anniversary last May 26, 2022.

Inaugurated during the event are two new additions to the LTO’s range of assets: the Information Technology (IT) Training Hub and the Road Safety Interactive Center (RSIC). The opening of both facilities was attended by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade and LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, with the aim of strengthening the agency’s services.

The modern and well-equipped IT Training Hub is seen to expand the LTO Central Command Center’s (C3) reach, where road conditions are monitored 24/7 in real time. It features training rooms, executive rooms, dormitories, and a server room. One of the facility's expected deliverables is a mobile app called CitiLearn, intended as a digital platform for the LTO's driver education training program.

The IT Training Hub will be used to effectively deliver training programs in driver education

Meanwhile, the RSIC features modular exhibits and various driving simulators for manual and automatic vehicles as well as two-wheeled units. A 4D mini theater and interactive games are also included. The LTO says the RSIC is open to all those interested in learning about driving, road safety measures, and proper road etiquette.

In his speech, DOTr Sec. Tugade lauded the LTO’s latest efforts even as he expressed hope that the agency’s work will continue with the incoming administration. “We will leave with heavy footprints of performance, we will leave with a heavy performance of promoting mobility and connectivity,” he declared.

For his part, Asec. Galvante expressed gratitude to the agency’s staff as well as the DOTr for their work over the years. “I’d like to emphasize our thanks to our Transportation Secretary Art Tugade and the DOTr officials for their inspiring leadership, guidance, and crucial support,” he said. “I’d also like to thank you, my co-workers and the LTO family, who have burnt the sacrifice so that we can fulfill our vision.”
