Speeding through the straights in a topless hypercar with no windshield is both an exhilarating and terrifying proposition. It’s a privilege that Lamborghini is granting a single customer, with its new SC20.
Lamborghini takes the wraps off its latest one-off hypercar
The SC20 is only the second one-off to come from the automaker’s Squadra Corse unit, following the SC18 Alston which made its debut at the Super Trofeo World Finals in 2018. The mystery customer who commissioned the SC20 was said to have been heavily involved in the car’s aesthetics, right from when Lamborghini’s Centro Stile designers penned the car’s first lines.
Even though it was created for track use, the SC20 is very much road-legal, in contrast to the track-exclusive Essenza SCV12 which is Lamborghini’s most powerful production model to date. The aggression in the SC20’s lines is apparent with sharp angles, outdoing even the brash appearance of the Lamborghini Aventador. According to Squadrea Corse, various Lambos served as inspiration for the SC20’s looks such as the Aventador J, Diablo VT Roadster, Veneno Roadster, and the Gallardo-based Concept S.
The car's white hue was created exclusively for the owner
Ditching both the roof and front glass greatly impacts the car’s aerodynamics, and Lamborghini compensates for this with aero work, comprising a distinctive front splitter, hood intakes, and configurable rear wing. The monocoque chassis and bodywork use carbon fiber, sheathed in exclusive Bianco Fu white with touches of Blu Cepheus.

The blue trim shares real estate with the predominant Nero Cosmos black inside the cabin, where more carbon fiber can be found on the leather and Alcantara thrones. Door handles are milled from solid aluminum, and 3D-printed air vents keep occupants cooled down (not that it matters once the car is in motion, anyway).
The same 6.5L V12 on the SC18 powers the SC20, producing 770 hp and 720 Nm of torque on tap. This drives all four wheels through a seven-speed Independent Shifting Rod t(ISR) transmission, claimed to row through gears in just 50 milliseconds. Lamborghini has yet to reveal top speed and acceleration figures.
Despite (or due to) the lack of a windscreen, the cabin has been optimized for airflow
Another aspect of the SC20 kept secret is the price tag, known only to the big spender who ordered its creation. If you want to your own bespoke Lamborghini sitting in your garage, it might be a good idea to find the nearest lotto outlet and place your bets.
