Astara Philippines added another car brand to its portfolio as it has been appointed as the exclusive importer of JAC cars and pickups in the country. JAC joins the list of other car brands under Astara PH, which includes Peugeot, GAC Motor, and JMC.
This also makes the first cooperation between Astara and JMC globally. Astara Philippines will offer JAC’s wide range of SUVs and pickup models, which is targeted to meet the “evolving needs of Filipino consumers and commercial customers.”
Aside from that, Astara PH said that it will be bringing in electrified JAC models, both all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). The company also wants to work on building a solid JAC dealer network in the Philippines, which is seen to strengthen the brand’s image locally. Astra PH has yet to share the official JAC models that it plans to introduce in the local market.
"We're excited to include JAC in our global portfolio and exclusively distribute the brand in the Philippines. As a top brand with a presence in over 100 countries, JAC's commitment to quality and focus on electrification perfectly align with Astara’s vision for the future of mobility. Considering this region is pivotal to our international expansion, we are confident in showcasing our capabilities through JAC’s distribution,” Astara CEO Jorge Navea said.
On the other hand, JAC Motors vice president David Zhang shared that the Philippine market is “of extraordinary strategic and practical significance. In the future, JAC will strictly adhere to the ‘user-centric’ business philosophy and bolster the relationship with Astara to provide better products and better service experience for Filipino users.”
JAC is a Chinese car brand that has been around in the Philippine market, offering crossover vehicles, pickup trucks, vans, and commercial vehicles. It has even participated in the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) as it unveiled the X100 commercial vehicle.
JAC also introduced the all-new S4 compact crossover SUV in the Philippines last September 2022, featuring a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
