As the local market enters the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year, car brands in the Philippines can now indicate which models are performing well in terms of sales. In the case of Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), the current best-selling model so far is neither the D-Max nor the mu-X.
Isuzu Traviz
Based on IPC’s data, the Traviz currently holds the throne as the best-selling Isuzu in the country with 3,166 units sold from January to September 2021. The Traviz is the Japanese car brand’s entry to the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment. IPC said that it is designed as a business mobility partner specifically for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
It is powered by a 2.5-liter 4JA1 Blue Power diesel engine that puts out 77 hp and 176.5 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual transmission with power sent to the rear wheels.

The demand for the Isuzu Traviz is not that surprising since other car brands in the local market such as Mitsubishi, and Suzuki showed a similar trend wherein their respective best-sellers are also commercial vehicles.
The L300 is leading Mitsubishi Philippines’ sales from January to September 2021. On the other hand, the Carry currently sits at the top when you look into Suzuki Philippines’ sales. The said sales trend could be attributed to the sudden rise of SMEs in the Philippines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, the D-Max is not far behind the Traviz in terms of units sold from January to September 2021. The Isuzu D-Max pickup truck registered sales of 3,164 units, which is just 2 vehicles sold shy from the Traviz. The third-generation Isuzu D-Max made its Philippine debut last March 2021. It features an all-new design inside and out, which is a huge leap as compared to the old model.
2021 Isuzu D-Max
The 2021 Isuzu D-Max comes with two engine options: a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine that delivers 188 hp and 450 Nm of torque; or a 1.9-liter RZ4E diesel engine that puts out 148 hp and 350 Nm. The engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The Isuzu mu-X posted 781 units sold from January to September 2021. Take note that the all-new mu-X was just recently launched in the Philippines, which means that it has yet to peak in terms of sales. The mu-X could do just that as the market enters Q4.
2022 Isuzu mu-X
The all-new mu-X can be powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine that delivers 187 hp along with 450 Nm of torque or by a 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC diesel that makes 148 hp and 350 Nm. Pricing for the mu-X starts at Php 1,590,000 while the top-spec variant comes at Php 2,450,000.
