During a Zoom conference for Isuzu Philippines Corporation’s (IPC) 300,000th unit celebration, the company confirmed that the next-generation Isuzu D-Max will be launched locally in 2021. This is big news, seeing that the local car scene has been relatively waiting for this pickup truck’s arrival. However, IPC didn’t provide an exact date for the launch.
This news will get a lot of people excited
That being said, the current Isuzu D-Max has been in the market since 2013, which is a good seven-year run. Despite that, the said model has been going strong probably due to the fact that IPC has continuously updated the model with new variants. Just a couple of months ago in June, IPC launched the 4x4 version of the D-Max Boondock.
Regardless, introducing the third-generation D-Max to the Philippines is inevitable as it is a vast improvement over the 2nd-generation D-Max. Its new 4JJ3-TCX Inline-4 turbo diesel is much more powerful, it comes with more features, and its styling has been updated to look more modern as well.
In addition to that, the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and the Australian NCAP recently completed its testing of the D-Max. The model got high marks in occupant safety. So this proves that the new D-Max is not only strong, rugged, and high-tech, but also very safe. This also makes the D-Max the first-ever pickup truck to gain a high safety rating under the 2017-2020 NCAP protocols. The new D-Max after all comes with a smorgasbord of safety features like its Advanced Driver Assistance System and eight airbags.

Other improvements in the new D-Max include better aerodynamics
In Thailand, the 2021 Isuzu D-Max has already beaten the Toyota Hilux. In the same market, it even managed to gain a massive 45 percent market share in the pick-up truck segment. Suffice to say, this news of the new Isuzu pickup truck’s future entry to the Philippines is nothing short of exciting.
