Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, posted a five percent growth for June 2021 as it garnered sales increase in all of the three segments.
Hyundai Accent leads the way in the PC segment
In the Passenger Cars (PC) segment, the Korean car brand said that it has recorded a 6.7 percent sales increase as compared to May 2021, with the Hyundai Accent as the top contributor. The locally-assembled Hyundai Accent posted a 13.6 percent month-on-month growth rate.
The Hyundai Accent is the brand’s entry to the local subcompact sedan, rivaling against the likes of the Toyota Vios, Honda City, Mitsubishi Mirage G4, among others. It is offered by HARI with two powertrain options (diesel and gasoline) to cater to the different mobility needs in the local market.
Hyundai Tucson bringing some light to the brand's LCV segment
Meanwhile, the brand’s Light Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment got a 1.6 percent increase. The top contributors for the segment are the Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Grand Starex with a sales growth of 33.3 percent and 11.9 percent, respectively.
The Hyundai Tucson is a 5-door compact crossover that is also offered to Filipino car buyers with gasoline and diesel powertrains, while the Hyundai Grand Starex is a van that can haul people or cargoes with its ample space seamlessly.
We should see more of this on Philippine roads
Lastly, the biggest sales increase from May to June is the Commercial Vehicle (CV) segment with a staggering 40 percent sales growth. The Hyundai HD50S posted a 75 percent increase, making it the top contributor for the feat. It is rolled out as part of the government’s PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP) which is now used in some areas such as Pangasinan and Cavite.
“HARI’s steady growth mode is a sign of how we, shoulder-to-shoulder with our nationwide dealership fortress, have grown in resilience through our 20-year journey as the Filipino’s lifetime partner in mobility,” said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
“We are definitely driven to a start a new chapter of HARI history, which may be the toughest one year – recovery on to achieving equilibrium in the Now Normal era. Thanks to the People of Hyundai, we’ll get there,” concluded Agudo.
