Chery Auto Philippines, which is under the management of the United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI), launched the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro at the 2022 Manila International Show last April. Fast forward to the present, it seems that the sales target the company has set for the model was surpassed by a wide margin.
The 2023 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro
Specifically, the Chery PH said that it has managed to sell an incredible 233 percent over the initial target. This of course indicates a very strong demand for the feature-rich seven-seater in the local market.
As to how this happened, Chery attributes this to its successful brand awareness campaign. Such activities that were involved in this were the two-leg media drives to Mount Samat in May and April 2022 which Philkotse was invited to participate.
Beyond that, Chery PH and UAAGI President Erroll Dueñas also stated that there was indeed a “passionate market reception” for the Tiggo 8 Pro and the Tiggo series of models in the Philippines. This is then supported by the fact that the officially recognized Tiggo owners Philippine club was also launched back in June 2022.
At the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro drive to Mount Samat
In total, the brand as a whole managed to achieve a 140 percent increase in total vehicle sales in the last month compared to May 2022. Besides the Tiggo 8 Pro, also contributing to this feat is the Tiggo 2 Pro which had a sales figure that exceeded the company’s set target by 140 percent. There’s also the Tiggo 7 Pro which in turn had 109 percent sales over its own targets.
Going back to the Tiggo 8 Pro, we also have to recognize that this model fits inside the seven-seater family car which is all the rage in the local market.
It also gets two rather beefy powertrains. First is a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline model that’s able to make up to 195 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. The hybrid 1.5-liter turbo in turn can churn out 155 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. Combined with its two electric motors, the Tiggo 8 Pro's hybrid variant can make a total of 320 horsepower.
Of note, Chery Philippines said that the hybrid variant is capable of returning an impressive 1 liter per 100 kilometer. It also has the capability of using its EV mode (pure electric mode) for up to 80 to 95 kilometers. And as mentioned, we've already had the opportunity to drive the Tiggo 8 Pro Hybrid and found out that a full charge only costs around Php 173. Lastly, fully charging the said 19.27 Kwh battery only takes 3 hours.
Other Tiggo models also did great sales-wise
These are also packed with plenty of safety features. Among these are adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, intelligent high beam control, among others.
Prices for the Tiggo 8 Pro is currently set at Php 1,670,000 for the entry-level 1.6-liter turbo DCT variant, whereas the hybrid 1.5-liter variant can be had for Php 2,450,000.
