Photos of what seems to be the new Nissan Almera have been taken along Metro Manila highways. The car is camouflaged so we are still uncertain. However, the headlights and taillights are revealed and both show similar design cues with the fourth-generation of the model.
The fourth-generation Nissan Almera was first introduced in the U.S. in 2019. The new model comes with sleeker styling with a touch of sportiness to it. Nissan Thailand already offers the fourth-gen Almera in its market so one can expect that Nissan Philippines will shortly offer it too.

According to a report by CarGuide, its reader saw two units of the camouflaged Nissan model being driven on EDSA. The two units are said to come with different variants, one being the base and the other as the top-of-the-line model.
Under the hood, the Philippines-spec 2021 Nissan Almera is expected (or we wish) to be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of producing 99 hp and 152 Nm of torque. This engine is used by the Almera in the Thai and Malaysian market.
The fourth-generation Nissan Almera
The new engine is smaller as compared to the current model in the country which uses either a 1.2-liter or 1.5-liter engine, depending on the variant. However, the new engine is now turbocharged so the power is not compromised.
Plus, a smaller engine with a turbocharger is generally better in terms of fuel efficiency. Nissan Malaysia claims an average of 18.4 km/L fuel consumption for the fourth-gen Nissan Almera and can reach up to 650 km in one full tank. This feature will certainly be attractive to Filipino car buyers who want a reliable, efficient, and practical car.

Unfortunately, Nissan Philippines hasn’t released any statement regarding its plans for the new Almera. Nissan Philippines recently decided to close down its assembly in Sta. Rosa, but assures that it will continue to grow its business network in the country.
