It serves up not just looks, but safety as well.

We don’t know much about the all-new Hyundai Tucson, considering that Hyundai Philippines is still offering the third-generation model in the local market. However, the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) is giving the new compact crossover a dazzling introduction as it awarded the vehicle a 5-star safety rating.

The latest iteration of the compact crossover boasts a 5-star safety rating

The all-new Hyundai Tucson scored 33 out of 38 points (86 percent) in the adult occupant protection rating, 42.8 out of 49 points (87 percent) in the child occupant protection rating, 36.1 out of 54 points (66 percent) in the vulnerable road users protection rating, and 11.3 out of 16 points (70 percent) in the safety assist rating.

ANCAP noted that the reason why the Tucson only got 66 percent in the vulnerable road user category is that it provided poor protection on the windscreen pillars. The test shows that the protection of the pelvis was predominantly poor. But at least the vehicle’s autonomous emergency braking system managed to respond well to pedestrians and cyclists.

Its strongest suit lies in protecting child occupants

As for the new Tucson’s highest percentage score which is in the child occupant category, ANCAP stated that the child protection during the frontal offset test and the side barrier impact was good or adequate. Another advantage stressed by the safety program is the clear child safety information that Hyundai included for drivers to easily understand.

With all that being said, Filipino car buyers can expect impressive performance from the all-new Hyundai Tucson in the safety department once it arrives in the country. The latest update from Hyundai Philippines was made last year when it confirmed that the all-new version of the compact crossover will make its debut sometime this year.

That's one stylish and safe crossover

In Australia, the Hyundai Tucson is classified as a midsize SUV, and is one of the first such vehicles tested under ANCAP's stringent protocols. But it also passed with flying colors in Europe, achieving a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, apart from recently bagging the ‘Car of the Year 2021’ and ‘Best Medium SUV’ honors from one of the U.K.’s largest publications, Diesel Car & Eco Car Magazine.
