By 2025, Geely Auto Group is expected to come out as a stronger company than ever with its ambitious goals for its business network. One of these is the quest to become the top-selling Chinese automaker in the said year, besting Chinese rivals such as SAIC Motor, Changan Group, and Chery Automobile, among others.

A Geely E-Energee station

Another objective of Geely Auto Group by 2025 is to establish 5,000 battery swapping stations across China. During the 2021 Wuzhen Internet Conference, the automaker highlighted the E-Energee, the technology behind its battery-swapping service.

The E-Energee enables electric vehicle (EV) drivers to swap their battery for a fully charged one in less than a minute. It consists of an automatic registration payment service that allows EV drivers to go into the station and automatically swap the battery without the need to exit their vehicle.

Geely is strengthening its lineup with EVs

As of this writing, the E-Energee network has now expanded to 10 Chinese provinces since the introduction of the first battery-swapping station in Chongqing in September 2020. Geely Auto Group reported that the current E-Energee service is predominantly used by those who want to cut down on charging times.

Considering that car brands like Ford have launched their plans for an EV-exclusive future, one can say that Geely Auto Group is heading in the right direction. Its R&D team is continuously developing the brand’s technologies, including the battery swap vehicle architectures.

2025 should be an exciting year for Geely

Furthermore, the Geely Auto Group invested USD 50 million (or around P2.5-billion) in an automotive tech company called ECARX Technology Co. Ltd. This is a noteworthy testament to the Chinese car brand’s commitment to advancing the technologies of its lineup.

The strategic investment aims to develop a range of intelligent automotive technologies, including the cockpit operating system, advanced in-car features, and autonomous driving solutions. Geely Auto Group acquired an approximate 1.51 percent of ECARX as part of the deal.
