Geely wants to be the top Chinese automaker by 2025

Besting rivals such as SAIC Motor and Chery Automobile, that's the plan.

Geely Auto Group announced that it aims to reach 3.65-million units in annual sales by 2025 across its auto brands including Lynk & Co, Geely Auto, Zeekr, and Geometry. With that number in mind, the Group wants to be the leader among Chinese automakers.

Geely Auto Group has high ambitions for 2025

To head start its ambitious car sales plans, Geely unveiled that it will introduce its GHS2.0 Intelligent Hybrid Powertrain System in the second half of this year. It is engineered to offer 43.32-percent industry-leading thermal efficiency and fuel savings of up to 40 percent. The plan also includes the enhancement of battery size on the brand’s PHEV models to increase the range to as much as 100-200 km.

Another program Geely Auto Group will be focusing on is the development of its premium electric Zeekr brand. The Zeekr brand rolled out its first model called Zeekr 001 in the first half of 2021.

The Zeekr 001 had over 5,000 confirmed orders since opening reservations. And just in a month, all units for 2021 were sold out. Zeekr aims to achieve 650,000 units annually by 2025.

Considering that the global automotive industry is inevitably shifting to electric vehicles (EVs), one can say that Geely’s electrification plans are an ideal strategy to help the brand propel to become the top Chinese automaker by 2025. Some of its rivals include the SAIC Motor, BAIC Group, GAC Group, Changan Group, and Chery Automobile.

Geely Auto Group said that it is continually making its global presence known through its Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, and Geometry brand products. It aims to strengthen its business networks in Russian, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), Geely’s official distributor in the Philippines, is making moves to grow the brand in the local market. The Geely distributor recently announced that it is expediting its dealer expansion program. Additionally, it is expected to add three more Geely models in the lineup, two of which are crossovers/SUVs and one is a sedan.
