Some include a Ford-sourced V6 diesel and 30 driver-assist systems.

Volkswagen has revealed some details regarding the all-new 2023 Amarok ahead of its launch. It will be coming with significant improvements from the front to the back that will make the automaker’s pickup more competitive.

The all-new VW Amarok in camouflage

Starting with the dimension changes which consist of a 100mm longer length and a 175mm increase in wheelbase. In turn, the all-new truck will be offering more space for the comfort of the passengers. The payload capacity has been increased to around 1,200 kg, while the maximum towing capacity is rated at around 3,500 kg.

A total of five engine options will be available under the hood including one gasoline and four diesel variants. Since it is based on the all-new Ford Ranger’s platform, a Ford-sourced 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine is expected to be part of the range. Moreover, the model will be offered in either rear-wheel-drive (RWD), part-time 4x4, or permanent all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Design-wise, Volkswagen is still covering its new 2023 Amarok in camouflage. But the German marque did reveal that it will feature a front end that has a clear brand DNA. With that being said, one can expect to see a similar face as the ones seen in the brand’s SUV models such as the Tiguan.

It will get an unmistakable VW front end

Both the front and rear will sport an embossed ‘Amarok’ word. Meanwhile, in the interior, the automaker revealed that the cabin will be getting a high-quality finish. Although, Volkswagen has yet to elaborate on that aspect.

As for safety, a wide array of driving modes is installed to keep the vehicle stable in various road conditions. It will be provided with more than 30 driver-assist systems. Over 20 of which are completely new to the model, according to the automaker.

Volkswagen didn’t touch on its plan regarding the Amarok’s high-performance version. In our previous report, Ford will not be sharing the Ranger Raptor blueprint with the German automaker despite their partnership to develop the next-gen Amarok. The company will still reportedly look for other parties to create a more performance-oriented VW truck.

A tougher and smarter VW pickup is around the corner

The 2023 Volkswagen Amarok will make its debut at the end of 2022. By then, Volkswagen Philippines could join the local pickup market with the Amarok sometime in the following year.
