As the market trend for crossovers/SUVs continues to rise, Hyundai is capitalizing on the demand with the unveiling of the new Exter.
Hyundai Exter
The Hyundai Exter is a tiny crossover that looks ready for any road challenges thanks to its rugged boxy off-road appearance. It will be made available in the Indian market, with the bookings now open.
At the front, the new Exter gets the brand’s signature parametric front grille flanked by boxy headlight housings. It is also installed with H-signature LED daytime running lights (DRLs), adding a modern appeal to the face.
Over to the side, the black claddings around the wheel wells help the vehicle further exude an off-road look. It is fitted with diamond-cut alloy wheels. Hyundai is boasting the model’s “Ranger Khaki” exterior color, which is said to reflect “one’s exploration desires while celebrating the thrill of setting out in the world.”
It comes with a modern off-road look
Under the hood is a 1.2-liter gasoline engine paired with either an automated manual or a 5-speed manual transmission. It is also made available with a different 1.2-liter mill, which is compatible with natural gas (CNG). This engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has opened the reservation for the Exter for 11,000 Indian rupees (or around Php 7,470). If Hyundai has plans to bring the Exter to the Philippines, it should be slotted below the Creta considering its size.
“With this new SUV, we are venturing into a new segment that further enhances HMI’s position as a full range SUV manufacturer. Considering the aspirations and lifestyle of Gen Z customers, Hyundai Exter will provide unique and exciting experiences for new age customers,” said Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mr. Tarun Garg.
A crossover for people who love outdoors
The Hyundai Exter isn’t the only tiny crossover to come out of the Korean automaker’s portfolio. Last September 2021, Hyundai released the Casper, coming with dimensions similar to Japan’s renowned Kei cars.
