Drivers, rev up your PlayStations.

If you’ve missed the 2021 edition of Toyota Philippine’s Gazoo Racing GT Cup e-racing, then you’ll be glad to know that it is back for its third edition this 2022.

Are you ready to race?

For this new season, the qualifying leg will be held on May 6 and 7. The semifinals are then scheduled to take place on May 27 and 28, while the finals are set to commence on June 24 and 25.

This season of the GR GT Cup e-racing competition is also particularly exciting as participants now have a chance to also participate in Toyota Motor Philippines Gazoo Racing Vios Cup, which is held in the real-world Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

To be more specific, GR GT Cup Philippine winners will first dip their toes in the Vios Cup Autocross event, then eventually move on to the real deal as competitors in the Vios Cup Circuit Championship event.

Going back to the said e-racing side of things, those who will stand out as the 2022 GR GT Cup Philippine champions will also get to represent the country at the Asian regional rounds. That’s right, e-racers will get to compete against the best-of-the-best from their fellow Asian e-racing champs.

For those unaware, the GR GT Cup e-racing series is a virtual racing tournament organized by Toyota Gazoo Racing. That said, races for this competition are held within the digital race tracks of Gran Turismo Sport.

As such, competitors must have a PlayStation 4 or 5 gaming console, an active PlayStation Network account, as well as an active PS PLUS subscription.

Better start practicing now

There are also multiple classes to choose from for this e-racing series. There’s the junior class for competitors aged 17-years old and below, the sporting class for professional e-racers, and the promotional class for those with no experience in professional e-sports competition.

The local rounds for the competition itself will feature different racetracks, as well as different Gazoo Racing models. Local round winners will get to compete in the national rounds, then national winners, as we’ve mentioned above, can then test their mettle in the Asian leg.
