The 2021 Gazoo Racing GT Cup e-motorsport has come a long way since the first leg of the event commenced last May 2021. Now, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has concluded the virtual race and commended everyone who participated in the event. The results are in after a series of high-speed runs and turns.
The checkered flag has been waved
Out of the 600 racers who signed up, only three stood up at the top. For the Junior Class, Russel Cabrera is hailed as the overall champion. As for the Sporting Class, Luis Moreno has bested its competitors. Lastly, Jether Miole took the number one spot at the Promotional Class. Here are what the champions have to say:
“It was an awesome experience being able to race despite the pandemic. I practiced hard and pushed myself to outdo my best time. Practicing with some of my online racer friends also helped me a lot,” said Junior Class Champion Russel Cabrera.
“The races were tough even for my class. I always expect that someone is going to be faster than me, so I have to practice my racecraft and put more hours on the track days prior [to] each race heats,” shared Promotional Class Champion Jether Miole.
“It is a good alternative if not the best substitute for actual races given the situation of the pandemic in the country. With real-life racing drivers joining, it ups the ante for those who focus on e-motorsports,” stated Sporting Class Champion Luis Moreno.
