The all-new BRZ could make its local debut this month.

As we’ve reported before, the second-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ as well as the second-generation 2022 Toyota GR 86 have already debuted a couple of months ago in April. Both are still developed jointly by Subaru and Toyota, and both come with vast improvements in terms of performance.

The second-gen 2022 Subaru BRZ

Concerning the all-new Subaru BRZ specifically, we also reported that Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, will be launching the said model sometime in the fourth quarter of 2021. And yep, we’re currently in the fourth quarter, so one can say that the long-awaited event is imminent.

To further thicken the plot, Subaru Asia recently updated its website, and it is now listing the second-gen 2022 BRZ in two variants: the BRZ 2.4 AT EyeSight and the BRZ 2.4 MT. The site is even showing their prices.

For the manual gearbox variant, it is priced at Php 2,399,000. Meanwhile, the automatic transmission variant has a price tag of Php 2,499,000.

As expected, the all-new 2022 BRZ commands a higher price than the outgoing version. Of note, the old first-generation BRZ 2.0 AT is currently priced at Php 2,158,000, which is Php 341,000 less than the new BRZ 2.4 AT.

The 2022 BRZ launch might happen this month

If one asks us though, we think that the price increase is justified since the new model utilizes a beefier, larger 2.4-liter boxer engine. At maximum, it can make 228 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque. There’s also the fact that Subaru went to great lengths improving this new model’s suspension system to lower the car’s center of gravity and to achieve better weight balance to compensate for the larger engine.

As per its name, the upcoming top-spec variant for this Japanese-made sports car is also getting much more in the way of safety via its EyeSight driver assist safety suite. As a side note, if you click the model on the site, you will be directed to the landing page of the old BRZ. That said, we might have to wait for the official launch for a complete spec sheet.
