On this year’s Gay Pride Month, Ford decided to roll out the “Very Gay Raptor”. And like the one that was presented last year, this one also comes in the colors of the Pride flag combined with glittery gold.
Ford’s Very Gay Raptor Redefines ‘Tough’ for a New Generation
Of note, the 2022 Very Gay Raptor is based on the next-generation model that debuted a year ago. And as to why it was built in the first place, it stems from the original Ford of Germany project that itself was born via a homophobic Facebook post about Ford’s Performance Blue Color.
The Very Gay Raptor is then scheduled to make an appearance at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. During the said event, it will perform a run on the off-road portion of the Goodwood grounds.

But besides that, the colorful Raptor one-off version will also be a part of Ford’s “Tough Talks” wherein former rugby player Gareth Thomas will be conversing with a number of guests about the trials and tribulations of the LGBTQ+ and its members. And of course, this will be performed while the host and guest are sitting on the Very Gay Raptor’s bed.
For those unaware, the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor is yet to be released in the Philippine market. For the Thai version though, it uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine capable of making up to 392 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque.
The one that will perform the run in Goodwood though, is likely the European-spec version, which also uses a V6 albeit with a different engine tune. At maximum, it can make up to 284 horsepower and 491 Nm of torque.

Like the previous version, it uses Ford’s 10-speed automatic gearbox, and its Fox dampers have also received significant upgrades.
Ford did say that in 2023, it will also release a 2.0-liter biturbo version that will still be present on the next-gen Raptor depending on the market. This of course is the current powertrain that the locally available Ford Ranger Raptor uses.
